お伝えしています。
秀吉の歩みをやさしい英語でもたどりながら、
いつの間にか英語への親しみが湧いてきて、
英語をたのしく感じてもらえたら、ありがたく思います。
それではさっそく、秀吉公のお話に耳を傾けていきましょう！
始り始まり
1. 皆の者、拙者は豊臣秀吉でござる！
Hello everyone, I am Toyotomi Hideyoshi!
2. 1537年に、尾張の小さな農家の子として
生まれたんじゃ。
I was born in 1537 as a child
from a small farming family in Owari.
3. 小さい頃は大変だったが、毎日一生懸命精進して、
立派な武士になろうと努力したのでござる。
When I was young, life was tough,
but I worked very hard every day to become
a great warrior.
4. ある日、偉いお殿様の織田信長殿に出会って、
従者にしてもらったのじゃ。
One day, I met a great lord
named Oda Nobunaga and became his follower.
5. 信長殿が大変な目にあったとき、拙者はすぐに
立ち上がって、皆のものを守るために戦をしたんじゃ！
When Lord Nobunaga was in trouble, I quickly stood up and fought to protect everyone!
6. その後、いろいろな戦に勝って、
国中ををひとつにまとめる大仕事を成し遂げてのう。
After that, I won many battles and achieved the great task of uniting all of Japan.
7. 国をもっと良くするために、皆の者が安心して
暮らせるよう、たくさんの決まりごとを作ったのじゃ。
To make the country better,
I created many rules so that everyone could live safely and happily.
8. 面白い話もあって、寒い夜に信長殿の下駄を
こっそり温めたこともあったな！
There’s even a funny story where, on a cold night, I secretly warmed Lord Nobunaga’s wooden sandals!
9. 晩年はいくぶん大変なこともあったが、
力を尽くして、この国の歴史を変える偉大な仕事をしたんだ。
In my later years, things were a bit hard,
but I worked very hard and did great things that changed Japan’s history.
10. これが、拙者の生まれてから天下をとるまでの、
ちょっと面白い話だよ。聞いてくれて感謝でござる！

信長が秀吉についてつぶやく
１．あの秀吉、あんな小さな体でよくここまで来たもんだ。
That Hideyoshi, from such a small frame, he’s come this far.
２．いや、見た目よりずっと頭が良いしな。

３．でも、あの足元の速さには驚かされるわい。
But his speed on his feet is astonishing.
４．どうして、あんなに目立つ色を好むんだろうな。

５．きっと、目立ってナンボだと思っているんじゃろう。
He probably thinks standing out is everything.
６．だが、ちょっと見てみろ。あの笑顔は作り笑いじゃない。

７．無邪気さが、時には怖いぞ。
His innocence can sometimes be terrifying.
８．戦では頼りになるが、宴ではお調子者だな。
He’s dependable in battle, but a bit of a clown at a banquet.
９．そういえば、あの茶碗の使い方、妙に巧妙だ。
By the way, his use of tea bowls is oddly clever.
10. まあ、結局、あやつの強さは、みんなを笑顔にできるところか。
Well, in the end, I guess his strength lies in making everyone smile.
信長も秀吉の長所を認めているようですね。

1. 豊臣秀吉は、昔の日本で大活躍した
とても強い武将でした。
Toyotomi Hideyoshi was a very powerful warrior who was very active in old Japan.
2. 彼は、元々農民でしたが、
努力して大きな力を持つようになりました。
He was originally a farmer, but he worked hard and became very powerful.
3. あるとき、敵の人たちが「農民がこんなに強いの？」と驚いたとき、秀吉はにっこり笑いました。
One time, when his enemies were surprised and said,”Can a farmer be this strong?” Hideyoshi smiled brightly.
4. その笑顔で、敵の者は少し油断してしまいました。
With that smile, his enemies became a little careless.
5. 秀吉は、大阪城という大きくて美しいお城を作りました。
Hideyoshi built a big and beautiful castle called Osaka Castle.
6. 大阪城は、ただの戦いの場所ではなく、みんなで遊んだり楽しく過ごせる場所でもありました。
Osaka Castle was not just a place for battles; it was also a place where everyone could play and have fun.
7. お城の中では、家来たちが隠れんぼをしたり、秀吉が変装してみんなを驚かせたり楽しい出来事がありました。
Inside the castle, his servants played hide-and-seek and Hideyoshi sometimes dressed up in disguise to surprise everyone.
8. 秀吉には、正室のねねという、とても賢くて優しい奥さんがいました。
Hideyoshi had a very smart and kind wife named Nene.
9. 秀吉が面白いことをすると、 ねねは、笑いながら「またそんなことをするのね」と優しく見守るのでした。
When Hideyoshi did funny things, Nene kindly watched over him while laughing and saying, “You do that again, don’t you?”
10. 秀吉の子どもたちは、大阪城で楽しく育ち、秀吉の面白いお話をたくさん聞きました。
Hideyoshi’s children grew up happily in Osaka Castle, listening to many of their father’s funny stories.
11. このように豊臣秀吉は戦いの時でも、みんなで笑い合って楽しく過ごすことを大切にしていました。
In this way, Toyotomi Hideyoshi valued sharing laughter and having fun together even during times of battle.
