お米のお値段はびっくり！米ひとつぶは何ていうの？

どんなふうに言ったらよいのか分からないのが、物の数量の表し方ではないでしょうか？

ここでは、一つの～という表現を覚えて実際の会話の中で使えるように慣れておきたいものですね。

はじめに、次の言い方を３回づつ音読してみてください。

口に定着させる音読練習

① 米 一粒- a grain of rice

② ご飯一杯 – a bowl of rice

③ レタス 1つ – a head of lettuce

④　ハム 一切れ – a slice of ham

⑤ コーヒー 一杯 – a cup of coffee

⑥ 砂糖 スプーン1杯 – a spoonful of sugar

⑦ パン一斤 – a loaf of bread

⑧ ポテトチップス 1袋 – a bag of potato chips

⑨ ビール 一杯 – a glass of beer

⑩ ワイン一本 – a bottle of wine

数え方の表現を使えるように、実際に対話文のなかで練習します。英語はいつも声に出して読む習慣をつけると、実際の場面でとっさの時でも話せるようになりますから、はじめのうちは、音読するのをおすすめします

1. 米とご飯

• 米を一粒もらえますか？
  • Could you give me a grain of rice?
• どうして一粒だけ必要なのですか？代わりに、ご飯一杯どうぞ。
  • Why do you need just one grain? Here’s a bowl of rice instead.

2. ハムとパン

• ハム一切れください。
  • I’d like a slice of ham, please.
• かしこまりました。パン一斤とご一緒にいかがですか？
  • Sure. Would you like it with a loaf of bread?
