🌨 江戸の冬と庶民の暮らしぶり
❄ 1. 冬の気候
江戸は現在の東京よりも寒く、
「江戸名物の八百八町は風の通り道で凍える寒さ」 と言われるほど。
川や池が凍ることも珍しくありませんでした。
🔥 2. 暖房は「火鉢」「こたつ」「行火（あんか）」
江戸の冬の最大の課題は「寒さ」。
当時は断熱性が低い家が多く、暖房は以下のような簡素な道具のみ。
● 火鉢（ひばち）
炭火を入れた陶器や木の器。
手を温めたり茶を沸かしたりする万能暖房。
一家に一つが普通。
● 掘りごたつ・置きこたつ
炭を入れた火壺を布団で覆うシンプルなこたつ。
布団に火がつかないよう注意が必要だった。
● 行火（あんか）
銅製の箱に炭を入れ、布団の足元に置いて寝る暖房。
➡ 家全体ではなく 「体の一部分を局所的に温める」 スタイルが基本。
👘 3. 冬の衣服は重ね着と綿入れ
庶民の冬の服装は以下の通り。
- 綿入れ（わたいれ）：布団のように綿を入れた着物
- 丹前（たんぜん）：厚手の羽織のような防寒着
- 手甲・脚絆（てこう・きゃはん）：腕と脚に巻きつける保温具
- 足袋・藁の草履：足元は今より寒い
暖房が弱かった分、重ね着が最強の防寒。
🍲 4. 冬の食べ物は「鍋」が中心

- 風呂帰りに風が冷たくて一気に冷える
- そのために 湯上がりの火鉢 が大活躍
🧹 6. 冬は仕事も変わる
季節によって仕事量が変わり、冬は以下が増えた。
- 薪割りや炭作り
- 大根・魚の干物作り（保存食）
- 大掃除（煤払い）
- 年末の商い（歳の市など）
雪かきはほぼ不要だが、風が強く空っ風が名物だった。
🎎 7. 年越し・正月は一大イベント
江戸の冬のクライマックスは正月。
- 煤払い（大掃除）
- 門松・注連飾り（しめかざり）
- 歳の市で買い出し
- 餅つき（庶民は餅は貴重）
新年は
晴れ着の小袖
で初詣に行くのが一般的。

長屋の井戸には氷が張り、朝の空気は肌を刺すように冷たい。
Ice formed on the well buckets, and the morning air bit sharply at the skin.
町人の茂吉は、両手をこすり合わせながら「今年も厳しい冬になりそうだ」とつぶやいた。
Mokichi, a townsman, rubbed his hands together and muttered, “This winter will be a harsh one.”
🔥 第2章：火鉢とこたつの温もり
夜明け前、お民は火鉢に炭を入れ、静かに火を起こした。
Before dawn, Otami placed charcoal into the hibachi and quietly lit the fire.
