Introduction
旅というのは不思議なものです。
Travel is a mysterious thing.
有名な観光地へ行った思い出よりも、
小さな出来事のほうが、あとから心に残ることがあります。
Sometimes,
small moments remain in our hearts more than famous tourist spots.
朝の静かな駅。
知らない街の夕暮れ。
ふらっと入った食堂。
A quiet station in the morning.
A sunset in an unfamiliar town.
A small restaurant entered on a whim.
今回は、そんな旅の時間を、
少し語りかけるような随筆風でまとめてみました。
This time,
I wrote about such travel moments in a warm conversational essay style.
第1章｜京都の朝は静かだった
Chapter 1 | Kyoto Was Quiet in the Morning
京都の朝は、思っていた以上に静かでした。
Kyoto mornings were quieter than I had expected.
観光客で賑わう街なのに、
早朝だけは空気がまるで違います。
Although the city is crowded with tourists,
the atmosphere changes completely in the early morning.
石畳を歩く音が、
やけに大きく聞こえました。
The sound of footsteps on the stone road
felt strangely loud.
遠くの寺から鐘が鳴ります。
A temple bell rang in the distance.
私は小さな店で抹茶を飲みながら、
しばらくその音を聞いていました。
I sat in a small shop drinking matcha tea
while listening to the sound for a while.
京都には、
時間がゆっくり流れる場所があるのだと思います。
I think Kyoto has places
where time flows slowly.

The moment I left the station,
cold air hit my face.
白い息を吐きながら歩いていると、
小さなラーメン屋を見つけました。
As I walked breathing white air,
I found a small ramen shop.
温かい味噌ラーメンを食べた瞬間、
体が一気に温まりました。
The moment I ate the hot miso ramen,
my whole body warmed up.
窓の外では雪が静かに降っています。
Snow quietly fell outside the window.
冬の旅も悪くないなと思えた夜でした。
It was a night that made me think winter travel is wonderful too.

空はゆっくりオレンジ色に変わっていきました。
The sky slowly turned orange.
私は堤防に座りながら、
ただ海を眺めていました。
I sat on the breakwater
simply watching the sea.
何もしない時間も、旅の魅力なのかもしれません。
Perhaps doing nothing is also part of the charm of travel.

but a quiet morning
or a warm meal.
そんな小さな記憶が、
あとから人生を少し豊かにしてくれる気がします。
I feel those small memories
quietly enrich our lives later on.
またどこか知らない街を、
ゆっくり歩いてみたいものです。
Someday again,

第4章｜台湾の夜、やさしい灯り
Chapter 4 | A Gentle Night in Taiwan
初めて台湾を歩いた夜、
私はどこか懐かしい気持ちになりました。
On my first night walking in Taiwan,
I somehow felt nostalgic.
夜市には明るい灯りが並び、
屋台から湯気が立っています。
Bright lights lined the night market,
and steam rose from the food stalls.
人通りは多いのに、
どこか空気がやさしいのです。
Even though many people were there,
the atmosphere somehow felt gentle.
小籠包を食べながら、
私は通りをゆっくり歩きました。
While eating soup dumplings,
I slowly walked along the street.
店先では店員さんが笑顔で声をかけてくれます。
Shopkeepers greeted people warmly with smiles.
雨上がりの石畳が光っていました。
The stone pavement glowed after the rain.
台湾の夜には、
人の温かさが自然に溶け込んでいる気がしました。
I felt the warmth of people
naturally blended into the nights of Taiwan.
